World Water Day 3/22/22

Water is our most precious resource, for the planet, for our bodies.

Growing up I took water for granted.  We could drink out of the tap, or from drinking faucets at school or at the park.  I recently visited Quebec and they are proud of the many drinking fountains installed throughout the city.  I used to brush my teeth, all the while the water was running down the sink.  I used to play in the sprinklers.

No longer do I take water for granted.  Bottled water is replacing tap water. Old pipes are giving folks who drink from the tap lead poisoning.  Toxic runoff is polluting our lakes, rivers and streams.  Tijuana allows its sewage runoff to spoil our San Diego ocean and beaches. Water has become a scarce commodity where I live in Southern California where we are experiencing drought conditions year after year.  I envision a future of water wars as global warming takes hold on every continent.

We must not waste water.  We must teach our children not to waste water.

Water is our most precious resource, for the planet, for our bodies.

Water represents so many things, baptism, healing, reflection, joy, motion, cleansing, rebirth, refreshment, recreation, pleasure, restoration…

What does water represent to you?
