Endangered Species Day May 20 - Help Save the Frogs

Frogs have survived on earth since before the dinosaurs! Yet frogs around the world are disappearing. Nearly one-third of the world’s species are on the brink of extinction, according to Save the Frogs Foundation.

Why are frogs important?

Frogs are a vital link in the food chain. Frogs eat mosquitoes; provide us with medical advances; serve as food for birds, fish and monkeys; and their tadpoles filter our drinking water.

What are the major threats to frogs?

Invasive species, habitat loss, infectious disease, toxic chemicals, global trade, climate changes.

Are you a frog enthusiast? You can help save the frogs.

In your yard: Reduce you lawn. Plant natives. Lawns provide no habitat for most wildlife.

Don’t use pesticides. Provide cover. Add water. Protect wetlands.

In your community: Educate your friends, neighbors, teachers, students and the public about the dangers frogs face and the importance of maintaining healthy frog populations.
